The food pantry tries to provide enough emergency groceries for three days. Clients must meet Federal and State income guidelines. Clients must also reside within the Borough of Mt. Pocono or the Townships of Coolbaugh, Pocono or Paradise.
Food and funding come to the pantry in a number of different ways. Most of our food is donated through our member organizations and private individuals. However, the pantry does receive food from th US Dept. of Agriculture and funding is also provided through the State of Pennsylvania.
The State funding allows us to purchase a steady supply of basic food stuffs, but variety comes from our local donations. Bread is provided by a local store and bakery. Vendors give surplus snacks. Restaurants donate turkeys and hams for the holidays. The local schools, Boy Scouts, and the Post Office conduct food drives.
The pantry also provides up to 200 food baskets at both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
