Food and funding come to the pantry in a number of different ways ... through donations from our member organizations and ministries and private individuals.

Any donation is requested to be "shelf stable" canned and/or boxed food items within the "use by" date. Fresh or frozen donations are requested by calling for an appointment at: 570-894-2072 and leave a message. The phone is monitored daily.

Our volunteers work tirelessly by processing paperwork, packing food bags, sorting donated food items, stock pantry shelves, maintain the physical plant of the pantry, help to assist clients and also serve the special needs of our ministry.

The pantry also receives food from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and funding through the State of Pennsylvania.

36.3 Million people including 13 million children live in households that experience hunger or the risk of hunger on an ongoing basis. The represents more than 10% of households in the United States. The Pocono Mountain Ecumenical Hunger Ministry is playing a small part in helping to address this issue.
